GOP Rep. Adam Kinzinger: Party Leaders Should Denounce Marjorie Taylor Greene As A “Cancer,” An “Outrage”

Rep. Adam Kinzinger, who voted to impeach President Trump, blasted fellow Republican Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene, who is allegedly a believer in “QAnon” type conspiracy theories during an appearance Wednesday on ABC’s “The View.”

REP. ADAM KINZINGER: Well, there’s been backlash, you know… within the party base, there’s some of course you know, as we’d expect. There’s also been a whole lot of outpouring from people that [said] ‘thanks for saying it.’ I’ve heard it, even amongst my colleagues: ‘thanks for speaking up.’

What it comes down to is maybe there’s backlash and maybe there’s not. But putting your career on the line when we’re going out and asking young people to be willing to fight and die to defend this country – being willing to give your career up to defend that same cause, that fidelity to the Constitution, is a small price to pay.

JOY BEHAR: Why don’t they just come out and say ‘get her off, she’s an outrage… and she is in fact a cancer on the GOP, and we’re better than that.’ Why don’t they just come out and say that?

KINZINGER: Yeah, I don’t know the answer to that because that is what they should say… We’re sitting here debating removing Liz Cheney from her leadership post, whose conservative credentials are unmatched, because she voted her conscience.

Then we’re debating and kind of hem hawing over what to do with Jewish space laser conspiracies and Sandy Hook truthers and 9/11 truthers. That’s really what the battle for the heart and soul of the party is.

We can’t stop her from calling herself a Republican… but we can block her from holding any committee positions, particularly one that deals with education.

We need to be way more decisive about this. In my mind, this isn’t even a debate-this is not who we are as a party and as a country and should not be acceptable.
